Complete Woman is a charitable organisation, established and conducted to reach out to marginalised women and local communities.
It was founded 2009 by a small group of migrant women as an effort to reduce isolation and share knowledge to help each other integrate into new unfamiliar cultures.
Complete Woman has two staff members, and relies heavily on volunteer support, and seasonal staff (project staff).
Complete Woman is guided and overseen by a dedicated board committee comprised of 6 members ranging in age from 16 to 65 years, all of African and Caribbean origin. Our team brings a wealth of lived experience related to the issues we aim to address, coupled with expertise in healthcare, enterprise, project management, and social issues.
Our service users are mainly settled as well as undocumented women with either refugee or asylum seeker status, or low income families from within the local borough of Burmantofts, Richmond Hill, and other surrounding areas in Leeds.
Our mission is to foster integration, build self-confidence, and promote overall wellbeing through a wide range of carefully designed programs .
To achieve this, we work with local partners on a range of key outcomes, including enhancing health and wellbeing, skill development, education, and training, as well as creating strong communities.
We operate a community hub and inclusive welcoming space designed for our service users to socialise and access information about other pertinent services available to them.
As a member of West Yorkshire Citizens and BME Anti-slavery Network, we work to bring communities together to drive local and national change. Complete Woman CIC is leading the WY Migrant Care Workers campaign.
Our events provide networking/social interaction opportunities to share best practices and commonalities giving a sense of belonging and/or feeling as part of a wider community.
We conduct regular community events aimed at empowering the members spiritually, mentally, and physically, to build confidence, raise self-esteem, address issues of abuse, whilst promoting well-being, and financial independence.
We aim to support community members with services such as CV writing, job applications, employability skills, business development/start-ups, basic IT skills, and more.
We are members of several local network groups, such as Volition and Forum Central, and Burmantofts Richmond Hill Community Anchor, West Yorkshire Citizens.
Our charitable services and activities provide numerous benefits to women, children, and young people from deprived and marginalised communities, through practical and workable solutions that make a difference in solving the pressing challenges that women and families are facing today.
